Creativity Lives in Everyday Actions - Creative Life Series (2)

Creativity doesn’t only reside in studios or on canvas—it lives in the way we go about our daily lives. It’s in the dinner you decide to make tonight, the outfit you choose in the morning, how you style your hair, the way you rearrange a room, or how you comfort a child after a long day. These are all acts of creation.

Decision-making and problem-solving are fundamentally creative acts. Each day, you are faced with countless opportunities to choose, to design, to solve. When you choose what to cook for dinner, you’re creating. When you adapt your schedule to meet the needs of your family, that’s creativity. Even how you decide to spend your quiet moments—reading, walking, listening to music—shapes the texture of your life.

Creativity doesn’t need a frame or a spotlight to matter. When you pause to bring intention to your choices, you infuse them with beauty and meaning. You create not just a meal, a moment, or an outfit—you create a life. And when you craft those daily choices in a way that brings you joy, you are, quite literally, crafting a happier life.

You don’t need permission or perfection to start. Just a willingness to pay attention.
What do you enjoy? What colors feel like you? What rituals soothe you or excite you?

Try something new, or give extra care to something old.
Wear the scarf that makes you smile.
Cook the dish your grandmother used to make.
Add a little beauty to your desk.

Let your everyday decisions reflect your spirit.

✨ Try This: Three Small Ways to Embrace Everyday Creativity

1. Write a list of ten favorite things in your home.
These can be objects that spark joy, have a story, or simply make your space feel like yours. Or they don’t even have to be things at all.

Today, my list looks like this:
coffee in my favorite mug,
my cat,
my rug from Bahrain,
my stack of to-be-read books,
a text from my daughter,
sunshine through my kitchen window,
an idea for a craft I want to try,
my fresh eggs from my chickens,
lemon curd on my toast,
and a sweet memory of my mom I had while journaling.

2. Identify a few of your favorite everyday joys.
Think of your go-to outfit, your favorite musician or song, and your favorite beverage. Choose to enjoy at least one of these today with full awareness and delight.

My list:
My soooooooft pants from Ninepine,
Big Band Music of the 1940s
and a limoncello spritzer!
I think all three are in order this afternoon.

3. Make one intentional change in your day.
Choose to do something differently—whether it’s how you set the table, what route you take for a walk, or the order of your morning routine. Let it be an experiment in joyful decision-making.

Today I think I’ll choose a different route for my morning walk, or I might go crazy and do my grocery store shopping from left to right instead of right to left!

We believe this quiet, daily creativity is just as powerful as anything hung on a gallery wall.
 It’s the heartbeat of a life well-lived.

💫 Next time, we’ll look at how creativity can ground us and calm our anxiety in a noisy world.
Until then, may your days be filled with tiny acts of beauty—and may you begin to see them for what they are: works of art.

Warmly,
Becky
