Modern Short Stories - 1947

Modern Short Stories, edited by John Hatfield and published in 1947 for the Everyman Library.  This book is a collection of lovely stories printed in the 1940s in London. The book is bound in red book cloth, well worn and full of character.  It is a small book, measuring approximately 5x7 inches. The book is in English, but I purchased it on a trip to Paris when we lived abroad.  It was hidden among book in all languages in a bookseller's stall along the Seine River.  This book would serve as a lovely decorative object as well as a very interesting read.  Among the authors you'll find a few familiar names like, Rudyard Kipling, O. Henry, James Joyce and Joseph Conrad.
